Exploration Day – Friday, June 30, 2017

exploration dayYou belong here.

Among the gently swaying palm trees, lush tropical foliage and warm breezes – you might think you’re in an idyllic vacation spot. But guess what? This is Florida Institute of Technology. Our campus is mere minutes away from the beach and home to its own 15-acre botanical garden. In addition, the university is situated on the Space Coast, site of Kennedy Space Center and NASA shuttle launches.

Welcome to Exploration Day at Florida Techexploration day

First and foremost, Exploration Day is your opportunity to experience the Florida Tech way of life. And a time to discover everything the university has to offer – all in just half a day.

Take a campus tour, meet with faculty members, explore our labs, ask questions of our admissions and financial aid staff – and experience our beautiful sub-tropical campus.

Nabila Tabassum came all the way from Dubai to attend Florida Tech. She earned her degree in pre-med biology in 2014.

“Seeing the campus online and seeing the campus in person are two very different experiences. Physically being here exceeded my expectations,” Tabassum said.

Explore it all on Exploration Day

exploration dayWalking around campus you’ll have the chance to see our Ortega 0.8-meter telescope. Also, did you know that Daniel Batcheldor, Florida Tech’s Department Head of Physics and Space Sciences, has an experiment aboard the space station right now? Or that Buzz Aldrin is part of our faculty? And with Kennedy Space Center just 40 minutes away, you may even get to see a rocket launch. SpaceX scheduled a late June liftoff for its Falcon 9 rocket. Finally, grab a great meal in our world-class Panther Dining Hall. The menu always offers something new. But it wouldn’t be unusual to find Spicy Tofu Stir Fry, Caribbean Roasted Chicken Breast, Pierogies with Caramelized Onions, Puerto Rican-style Red Beans, or Gyro with Tzatziki Sauce. In other words, no standard cafeteria food here.

exploration daySo you’re interested in aviation?  Maybe you should take a tour of our flight line. Afterward, you can stroll through our botanical garden located right in the middle of campus. While you are exploring, don’t miss the chance to see the community garden. And learn about our groundbreaking sustainability program. It received certification under the prestigious Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS). Consequently, solidifying its standing as a state and national leader in university sustainability.

Florida Tech’s next Exploration Day is Friday, June 30, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  However, admission counselors are available until 4 p.m. for questions or guidance. In the meantime, registration is mandatory. So sign up now.
