X-Culture: Working Together

Guest Blogger: Matthew Devitto, Nathan M. Bisk College of Business student

The project has definitely become more of a challenge. Once we got past the initial fact finding, and down to the nitty-gritty of actually coming up with the paper, communications broke down, and it seemed like everybody was expecting someone else to do the work. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, however, it’s that we do work well under pressure, because we still managed to turn everything in on time.

Another challenge that we faced was Spring Break schedules. I was out of the country for a whole week, and it happened to be right before our rough draft was due. Being out of the country made it difficult to reach anybody and, honestly, school was the last thing on my mind. When I came back I was relieved to see that some work had been accomplished.

I think by the time this whole thing is done, my team and I will have produced something that we can all be proud of. Even if the paper isn’t the greatest, the fact that seven people from seven different countries were able to work together is something of value and I know will help me in my future endeavors.
