Zane Hicks Named MVP for February

Zane Hicks, technology support specialist II, was named Most Valuable Panther for February 2024.

In announcing the award, the Office of Human Resources said:

“Zane Hicks was a student worker before he was recruited into the IT department last year. He hit the ground running and quickly established a reputation as the “go to” person for multiple departments around campus.

Zane continuously goes above and beyond to make sure our Information Technology customers get the very best service possible. On one occasion he was called on to help one of our traveling recruiters who was commuting in multiple European countries when her laptop died and left her stranded without a way to send and receive communications vital to her job. Zane spent several days on the phone with her working through many troubleshooting steps until he was finally able to get her back online and in working condition. This effort began on a Friday, and he stayed on the case with her well into the weekend until the issue was resolved.

He exemplifies top quality customer service that we all strive to achieve. He is always ready to help whenever needed. On another occasion our Security Department lost their main dispatch system due to a thunderstorm. Zane responded quickly even though it was a 3-day weekend, and after some troubleshooting, he was able to get their phone system working until the system could be fully repaired the following day. Without his immediate attention Security would have been out of contact with the campus for over 18 hours.

His dedication and quick thinking are a credit to him and to Florida Tech. He always provides service with a smile, even under the most difficult situations. His helpful and “can-do” demeanor are truly deserving of a Most Valuable Panther recognition.”
