Each generation of employees has their own talents and skill sets. A common misconception is that those in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s have an advantage in the hiring marketplace. Yet, the truth is, employers are looking for the RIGHT person for the job at hand, regardless of their age.

If you’ve been in the workplace for 20-plus years, you may feel like you are behind the curve on some aspects of your specialty. There are programs in place that were specifically created for unemployed or underemployed women that provide training and tips on how to make you more marketable to today’s employers. Locally, CareerSource Brevard has partnered with Eastern Florida State College to provide the AARP Foundation BACK TO WORK 50+ Women’s Economic Stability Initiative (WESI), for example.

This week’s FLORIDA TODAY EDGE column comes from CareerSource Brevard President Lisa Rice. In this column, Lisa discusses the different programs and opportunities available for women over 50 looking for work. Read more HERE.
