Luggage to Transport Itself on Tarmac

Students created an autonomous luggage car to transport items like suitcases on the airport tarmac by itself.

Mechanical engineering senior Bradley Jones said the Autonomous Luggage Transport System is a powered by electricity and solar panels, rather than oil. The ALTS is controlled by a computer board that tells the vehicle how fast it should go for how long, in what direction and at what time. It also has manual settings that will not mess with its system.

The ALTS will drive itself from the airplane to the baggage terminal. The ALTS has a roof and side tarp to cover luggage, which is not on most baggage cars.
