Life as a Florida Tech Fraternity Man

Florida Tech Greek Life is different from any other Greek Life community in the world. Our Greek Life consists of eight fraternities and three sororities. I decided to join Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity (TKE) my freshman year of college. It has been one of the best decisions of my life! TKE has truly guided my success through college and it has helped develop me into the man I am today. Take a journey through a few of the many memories and pictures from my college photo album:

As a freshman at Florida Tech, you are allowed to meet all of the fraternities during rush week to decide which one is the best fit for you. Joining Greek Life is the best way to meet people in different majors from all over the world.

Big Brother Family

Even before getting initiated into Tau Kappa Epsilon, you are given a “big brother” as a mentor. Throughout my TKE journey, I have met my best friends that I will have forever—including my big brother and my three current little brothers. It is great to have be a part of another family when you are so far away from home.

As soon as you join a fraternity at Florida Tech, you are put right into the action. One of the most important values of Tau Kappa Epsilon is service and giving back to the community. Some of the fraternity activities I have been involved with include road clean-up through campus, volunteering for a local soup kitchen, participating in Movember and raising money for organizations such as Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the American Cancer Society.

Not only do you get to meet brothers in your fraternity, but Florida Tech Greek Life allows for you to become friends with all other fraternities and sororities. It is great to see that all of our Greek organizations support one another in philanthropic events, social mixers and formal events.

Another great thing about being part of a fraternity is the leadership academy opportunities. I have attended several regional leadership academies with fraternity men from all over the southeastern United States. My favorite conference was TKE’s national conference called Conclave which took place in Washington, D.C. These are excellent opportunities for networking with established career professionals and other students. At Conclave, I was given the chance to meet Steve Forbes, a TKE alum.

Lastly, joining Tau Kappa Epsilon means joining a great brotherhood that will last forever. Being part of the TKE chapter at Florida Tech has given me the opportunity to make my college experience the best that it can be. Some events that we do include brotherhood camping events, trips to the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway and our annual Red Carnation Ball where I have traveled to Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas.
