X-Culture: A Different Approach

When Mr. Muth first told us in class about the X-culture project I was really excited as this was going to be something new and interesting. But after listening to what my classmates had to say about X-culture I was really nervous and scared. However, once I received the contact information of my group and started communication with them it was fun. This was the first time I was assigned to Global Virtual Team (GVT) and hence this proved to be a great learning experience. I learned a lot about different cultures, different work ethics, and the way to manage different people in order to get the work done on time.

Throughout the college years a business student comes across terms like global/international business numerous times. So in my opinion X-Culture gives us students a great opportunity to practically apply our knowledge and some gain experience before entering the work force. Now that the X-Culture project has come to an end I am eagerly waiting for the grades. And I am really glad to be a part of X-culture.

X Culture represented a unique experience for me. I had the opportunity to interact with students from many backgrounds and to observe how these personalities functioned in a group setting. Most importantly, we came together to complete a high quality business proposal. I also learned a lot about virtual teams and which methods work best.

If I was allowed to redo the project, I would approach it much differently. Some methods were ineffective for the team’s dynamics, so I would possibly change these processes for ones that work better. Overall, I learned a lot over the course of the project. If I’m ever faced with a global virtual team during my career, I now know how to approach the project to attain high performance.
