Aeronautics Professor’s Daughter Wins National X Factor Competition

The Florida Tech campus is buzzing this morning over last night’s X Factor finale. For one faculty member, this was no ordinary reality results show. Dr. John Deaton, College of Aeronautics professor and aviation human factors expert, watched in the audience as his daughter Sierra and her boyfriend Alex won a Sony recording contract as the winners of this season’s X Factor.

Throughout the competition, many Florida Tech students, staff and faculty members rallied together to vote for the talented duo. Messages of encouragement would flood the campus-wide email lists after every elimination round.

Congratulations, Alex and Sierra! We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them both. 2014 Florida Tech homecoming, anyone?
